The Vevey Historical Museum was founded in 1897 and is housed in a beautiful 16th century château dating from the Bernese occupation. Its collections of objects, paintings and documents bring the region’s past back to life in an interesting and elegant setting. The château, facing on to Rue d’Italie, north of Quai Perdonnet, is also the home of the Musée de la Confrérie des Vignerons (Museum of the Confraternity of Vintners) and the Musée du Vieux-Vevey (Museum of Old Vevey), which displays pre-historic material, fine old furniture, weapons and costumes.
