The Verena Minster has been a place of worship for at least 1,600 years and is dedicated to St Verena, the patron saint of health care. She devoted her life to caring for the sick and aged. According to legend St Verena died here in 344AD and her tomb is in the crypt and is still a place of pilgrimage. A former monastery church, it is said that the nave is from the Roman period; it is known that the gothic choir tower was consecrated in 1347 and that baroque elements were added in 1733. The monastery was dissolved in 1876.
