The Vaporama Swiss steam engine museum has the largest collection of its type in Switzerland, comprising more than fifty engines of various sizes, designs and origins. The exhibits cover the technological history of the period 1859-1960 and the exhibits are mostly manufactured in Switzerland by Sulzer, Escher Wyss or Edward King. The highlight is the completely restored 1906 Lake Thun steamer Blümlisalp. There are also steam boilers, generators, pumps, many other industrial exhibits powered by steam and a 1985 Viking engine of the type built for Ariane rockets. Please phone in advance for an appointment.
