The Toy Museum, a private initiative, was opened in 2005; it is run by volunteers, is self financed and all the exhibits come from private collections. The museum displays are broad based and cover the period from 1850-1960. Included in the exhibits are dolls, dollhouses, toy shops, teddy bears, building blocks, model cars, tin soldiers and many other interesting and unusual items, tastefully arranged by toy enthusiasts. There is a museum shop which, amongst other things, sells handmade toys and the museum also stages special exhibitions.
