The Refrigerator is, without doubt, the most well-known curiosity of Saint-George. This cave in the Jura region measures some eight metres in height. It is accessible thanks to a series of steps. Once descended, curious visitors discover a ground permanently frozen and a spectacle of stalactites and stalagmites. The sight is astounding and covers more than 20 metres by 12 metres, History tells us that, at the beginning of the century, this natural refrigerator was exploited by a company from Lausanne, which supplied the breweries of the area with ice, transported at night by horse-drawn carts to prevent it melting.
