On top of the hill between forest and vineyards lies a precipice. At some 780 metres above sea level, the waterfall running into a deep gorge was deemed impassable. The site has always attracted nature lovers, giving magnificent views over the plain, the vineyard and the valley. In June 2001, an ultra-light suspension footbridge, the colour of rock and carefully camouflaged, was built to give access by footpaths from Saillon and Leytron. The artist Hans Erni, a lover of the region, said from the bridge: "I never felt the Valais as here." You need a good head for heights to use the bridge.
