Sion, the capital of the canton of Valais, is dominated by the famous twin hills of Valeria and Touribllon and is situated along the Rhône River between Lake Geneva and the Furka Pass. Archaeological evidence points to the town having been inhabited as far back as Neolithic times. Sion’s cathedral is home to the world’s oldest organ that is still playable. It was built around 1390. Other important sites include the All Saints Chapel, a 14th Century Romanesque-Gothic building located between the two hills, the Witches Tower, which was part of the old town fortifications, a Natural History Museum, a Museum of Art and a Museum of Antiquities.
