The village of Sent at an altitude of 1,440 metres is located approximately 4.5 km northeast of Scuol. It is another of the historic and picturesque Lower Engadine villages and was first mentioned in documents in 930, when Henry the Fowler, founder of the Saxon dynasty sent an emissary to the church there. The population of Sent has dwindled since the end of the 19th century to fewer than 1,000. The village is a winter ski resort with a ski lift and toboggan run and has some fine Endgadine houses. The ruins of the 12th century St Peter’s chapel originally belonged to the castle.
