The Sempach Town Hall Museum is located in the town centre in an interesting looking building with a fountain in front. It exhibits banners, silver, models of the town, Swiss glass panels, religious works of art and handicraft, forestry and agricultural implements. It also contains important historical documents relating to the Battle of Semprach, which took place on the 9th July 1386 when the Swiss Confederate army defeated Leopold III, the Duke of Austria. This victory is still celebrated each year with a procession to the battlefield, including contingents dressed in the battle dress of the time and carrying contemporary weapons.
