The Schiffbau is the old shipbuilding hall where the boats that sailed on Lake Zürich were built; it has now been converted, in an interesting project for which the architect Peter Kern was responsible. Multi-purpose in use, it serves such diverse interests as an arts centre, restaurant, club and bar. The La Salle restaurant, an aquarium-like glazed square, the well known Moods Jazz club, The Trendbar, Nietturm lounge and four rehearsal stages, all live in harmony under the huge factory roof. The heart of the entire complex is the charming indoor theatre.
