The Schiff Museum, which opened in its present premises in 1981, is located in the delightful town of Laufenberg, approximately 21 km east of Rheinfelden. The focal point of the museum is the history of the River Rhine which is illustrated by paintings, etchings and photographs; the subjects of fishing, rafting of timber and navigation are also covered. Other items exhibited include regional ceramics and furniture and there is a weapons room. In addition to the permanent exhibits, the museum has a changing annual exhibition.
