The Priory of Saint-Martin was established by Rodolphe III. He ordered the construction of a church and convent buildings, which underwent various modifications over the years. During the middle ages the priory was heavily damaged as a result of the renovations of the nearby fortifications. The church was transformed and increased during the 15th and 16th centuries with the addition of three vaults. In 1536, with the arrival of the Berneses, the village of Bursins separated completely from the Burgundian mother abbey.
