The Rosengarten, high above the city on the Heiligberg, is both an oasis of tranquillity and one of the best vantage points in Winterthur. It has views over the Old Town, the Neuwiesen quarter, Töss, Goldenberg and the Swisscom skyscraper. There are more than 2,900 rose bushes and over 330 different species to be seen. The city bought the land in 1961 and it was developed into the rose garden, on the occasion of the city’s 700th anniversary, by a former city gardener John Mueller. The bronze sculpture of a horse is by Hans Eduard Buhler.
