The Prieuré Saint-Pierre-Saint-Paul was founded in 928-29 when Adelaide, the sister of King Rodolphe of Burgundy, gave to Odon the monastery of Romainmôtier. The monastery dated back to the 5th century and had been founded by Saints Romain and Lupicin. In January 1537, the monks were made to leave Romainmôtier due to the decrees of the Reformation. The church was built between 1000 and 1030. Of sober architecture, its decoration of blind arcades connects it to Romanesque art. It was enlarged in the 12th and 13th centuries and again in the 14th century.
