The boat trip on the River Aare, from Solothurn to Biel-Bienne, is considered to be one of the most beautiful and romantic river cruises in Switzerland. The semi-catamaran ‘Siesta’ is boarded in Solothurn and passes the island of Inseli and Altreu (see separate entry) with its famous stork colony. The boat goes on past the lovely town of Büren, which has a number of attractions, and the trip ends at the city of Biel. Cruises take place from mid-May to mid-October and last just under three hours. The return to Solothurn by train takes about one hour.
