Located approximately 6 km north of Rapperswil, the Rabbit Museum was opened in 1991 and is unique in Switzerland. It exhibits the private collection of Gertrud Pürro, who once bred rabbits, and consists of more than 7,000 items. The rabbits are of all shapes, sizes and colours and are made of a wide variety of materials including glass, cotton, cloth, ceramics and wool. There are miniatures, toys, decorative objects, utensils, books, jewellery and much more. The collection started in 1977, when Gertrud received two rabbits, Adam and Eve, as a present from her husband. Her favourite is made by Steiff.
