Designed to appeal to the whole family, the Cantonal Prehistory Museum was opened in 1997 and displays archaeological finds and models of settlements of the six prehistoric ages. These are shown together with life-size human figures and are accompanied by audio-visual descriptions of the various ages. The models include a pile-village from the New Stone Age, a sacrificial scene on a Roman tomb and a scale-model of a Bronze Age house. There is a children’s only gallery, where everything can be touched and used and there are games and books. The museum stages special exhibitions.
