The Pfäffikon Castle Chapel was fully restored in the period 1986-1988, including measures taken to deal with the wet ground conditions which had given rise to damp and cracking problems throughout its history. There are references to a chapel on the site as early as the 15th century, but a new chapel was built and consecrated in 1568. It was badly damaged when occupied by Napoleon’s troops in 1798, requiring extensive renovation. Between 1892 and 1895, internal and external alterations took place and gave the building the appearance seen today with its two bell tower.
