The Old Arsenal Museum is housed in an early 17th century building (see separate entry) and has a huge collection of weaponry spread over four floors. There are more than 400 suits of armour of international importance on the second floor and the museum provides a record of the 15th to 20th centuries. The collection of uniforms on the third floor is one of the most comprehensive in Switzerland. Amongst the other highlights are the cannons, machine guns, small fire arms, swords, sabres, halberds and Burgundy booty. There are also two large collections of pewter figures. Special exhibitions are staged.
