The North American Native Museum is an unusual encounter with the art and culture of North American Native people. The museum started in 1961, when the private Holz Collection was acquired by the City of Zurich and was opened to the public in 1962 in a school building. It moved to its present, larger accommodation in 2003. There is a collection of Native American and Inuit artefacts, which provides a fascinating insight into these peoples’ very diverse lifestyles. The collection items on display are regularly changed to present themed exhibitions and the museum stages one or two special exhibitions each year.
