Opened in 2003, the new Zug Hauptbahnhof is an imposing building and regarded as one of the most beautiful stations in Switzerland; it is the centre of Zug’s expansion. Tours can be arranged through the tourist office and take about one hour, but no visitor should leave Zug without witnessing the station light art installation. This is the creation of American artist James Turrell (b.1943) and consists of computer-regulated light sequences of the five storey complex, with its glass roof and glazed façade. The blaze of colour and subtle changes of red, green and blue shades leave a lasting impression.
