Located near Neerach and approximately 20 km north of Zürich, the Neeracherried Nature Reserve is one of the largest remaining valley bogs in the country. It extends over 105 hectares (260 acres) and is a habitat for breeding-birds, including some very rare species and also an important resting place for numerous migratory birds. The water level is artificially regulated and adapted to the needs of the birds. There are wooden trails, two observation huts, and a permanent exhibition with interactive displays and video clips. Since 1999, the SVS-BirdLife, Switzerland has run the information centre.
