The Natural History Museum is modern and designed to attract families. It is a particularly valuable learning experience for children, with many working models, slide shows and film shows and the opportunity to take an active part and to touch. Bears, boars and other animals can be stroked, there are dinosaur footprints and three aquariums reproducing stream, river and pond life. The exhibits of indigenous fauna, flora, minerals, fossils and rock specimens are spread over three floors and the fossilised turtles from Solothurn and the starfish from Weissenstein are of international importance.
