Located on the 3rd floor of Labbart , the silver and goldsmith and watchmaker, is the small but fascinating Music Box Museum. It is devoted to the more than 200-year-old tradition of Swiss music boxes. The first music boxes (Spieldosen-Kabinett) were made in 1796, in the house of the famous Geneva watchmaker Antoine Favre. He replaced the bells, used in medieval music machines, by combs with pre-tuned metallic notes, which produce more varied and more precise sounds. Amongst other interesting exhibits you can see singing birds and large music automats, forerunners to the modern juke box.
