Mörsburg Castle is located on the beautiful vantage point of a hill near Stadel, about six kilometres northeast of Winterthur. The first reference to the castle was in 1241, when it was the residence of the Counts of Kyburg; they extended the castle and built the Romanesque chapel in 1250. The Antiquarian Society of Winterthur runs the museum, which has a knight’s hall and exhibits of cultural items, as well as an outstanding collection of ceramics and weapons.
