Located in an old brewery and flour mill complex on the banks of the River Limmat, the Mill Museum in the Mühle Tiefenbrunnen is a working mill from about 1913. It has exhibitions related to grain, milling and the miller. The mill used a system of electrically powered pulleys and belts and was never powered by water. The museum exhibits original mill stones and demonstrates how flour and bread are made; there is also a large hammer mill which once ground herbs and spices. The complex has been developed to include shops, restaurants, galleries and a theatre.
