The Medical History Museum of the University of Zürich covers the full history of the development of medicine from prehistoric times to the present. The advance of surgery and anaesthesia is explored and the story of infectious diseases such as the plague, leprosy, smallpox, polio, tuberculosis syphilis and aids, is told. The evolution of medicine is traced, aided by a reproduction of a chemist’s shop from around 1700. Other replicas bring the subjects to life such as a children’s ward c.1830. There is a gallery of famous Zürich doctors and a huge library of reference and other books
