The small town of Magden (population about 3,500) is located 4.5 km south of Rheinfelden and has a history going back to 804; its Roman name was Magdinium. The town is the site of the ancient Magdalener spring which today supplies the Carlsberg-owned brewery in Rheinfelden. The Schwimmbad Schibelacher, on the southwest outskirts of the town, has an open-air swimmers’ pool under lifeguard supervision, with a one-metre diving board. There are grassed areas with shade suitable for both sunbathing and picnics and games areas for Frisbee, badminton, etc. Facilities include a snack bar, changing cubicles, showers and toilets.
