The Lungerersee, southwest of Lake Sarnen (see separate entry) in the Obwalden Canton, is named after the town of Lungern at its southern extremity. It is, in fact, a small natural lake of 2.01 km² (about 0.77 square miles) which also serves as a reservoir. With a water temperature which can be as high as 23°C, the lake is perfect for bathing and water sports and is popular with fishermen (fishing is permitted without license between April 1 and October 15). All equipment and boats can be hired and there is a sailing school. Do take a stroll or ride around this lovely lake.
