Located in the southeast corner of Appenzell, the Liner Museum is devoted to the work of the father and son local artists, Carl August Liner (1871-1946) and Carl Walter Liner (1914-1997). Opened in 1998, the museum presents changing exhibitions of their work. The building was designed by the noted Zurich architectural partnership of Annette Gigon and Mike Guyer, who were also responsible for the Kirchner Museum Davos and the extensions to the Kunstmuseum in Winterthur. The museum also stages temporary exhibitions of mainly Swiss contemporary art.
