The outstanding Lindwurm Museum, which opened in 1993 and won a European Museum of the Year award in 1995, takes the visitor back to life in the mid-19th century, in an authentically completely furnished ‘bourgeois’ residence. The museum is housed in a building, partly dating from 1279, known as ‘Zum Lindwurm’; it was expanded in the 16th century and altered in 1819; the preserved ‘Empire’ style palace facade is unique. The museum’s excellent website gives a complete museum layout, including the rear building, and also details its special exhibitions.
