To the south and east of the city is Lake Zürich /Zürichsee, the eastern portion being named Obersee, it has two small islands Lützelau and Ufenau. The lake is approximately 40 km (25 miles) long with a maximum width of 3 km (1.9 miles) and has a surface area of some 89 km² (34 square miles). With the exception of Quaibrücke and the Seedamm, which carries a road and rail link and connects Pfäffikon with Rapperswil, there are no bridges across the lake. Ferries and boat trips operate from Bürkliplatz (see separate entry) and Enge and a car ferry from Horgen to Meilen.
