Located about 9 km south of Winterthur and high above the River Töss is Schloss Kyburg, eastern Switzerland’s most important feudal castle and a fascinating museum, which covers 800 years of private and public lives. Hear the stories of knights and maidens, the local governor and his wife, the servants and the subjects. There is display of armour and weaponry, a chapel with 15th century restored frescos and a torture chamber, where thumb screws and the rack were used, and much more. Below the castle, along the river banks there are many places to picnic with fireplaces provided.
