The Kunstmuseum is located in the centre of Winterthur and contains one of Switzerland’s best modern art collections. It is housed in a fine building designed by Robert Rittmeyer and Walter Furrer, built in 1915 and extended in 1995 by architects Annette Gigon and Mike Guyer. The extension exhibits international contemporary art with artists such as Guston and Marden. The original building houses French art from around the turn of the century, Cubism and Classical modern art, with work by artists such as Monet, Van Goch, Braque and Kandinsky. Apart from the permanent collection, the museum regularly stages other exhibitions.
