The aim of the Kunsthalle Winterthur is to expose new works of contemporary art and offer Winterthur artists a forum for their own exhibitions. It stages five to six exhibitions annually. The Third Room (Der Dritte Raum) is open during exhibition hours and has several functions. Designed by Swiss artist Mark Divo, it has a ‘Publish and be damned library’ based on the one in London and is also the archive for Winterthur artists, providing visitors with an overview of the local art scene. Once a month, it turns into the Cafe des Arts, a meeting place for artists and their friends.
