The splendidly decorated and ornate fountain in Kolinplatz was originally known as the Lindenbrunnen, but is now usually referred to locally as the Kolin Fountain. There are various ideas about the statue’s identity, these include Wolfgang Kolin, a standard-bearer and the architect of the nearby Hotel Ochse; this gives rise to yet another name the ‘Ochsenbrunnen’. The fountain was created in 1541 and the date is etched on the capital amongst the masks and other decoration; it was restored in 1747 and this date is inscribed on the trough. It was further renovated in 1915 under the architect Emil Weber.
