The village of Kiesen is located on the Berne road about 9.5 km north of Thun and was first mentioned in 1236 when it was known as Chisun. The Cheese Dairy Museum was opened in 1974 and is located in two ancient buildings which are protected monuments. A reconstructed village cheese dairy shows production 150 years ago and visitors will learn many interesting facts about the history of cheese production in the area. There is video and taped commentary in various languages, including English.
