Since 1999 the Kellenberger Clock Collection has been housed in the Gewerbemuseum (Applied Arts and Design Museum) (see separate entry). This valuable collection includes early instruments, sundials, hourglasses, mechanical clocks, artistic clocks, synchronized chronometers, all arranged in themed sections. A highlight is the collection of the famous domestic iron clocks, made by the Winterthur clockmakers Liechti in the 16th and 17th centuries. There is an important collection of Swiss wooden clocks dating from the 18th century and, in contrast, sumptuous Renaissance clocks, including the monstrance clock by Paulus Braun, c. 1600. The city council acquired the Konrad Kellenberger (1907-1976) collection in 1970.
