The James Joyce Foundation was established in 1985 to keep alive the memory and works of Irish writer James Joyce (1882-1941) for the benefit of the literary world, and particularly Zürich, where he spent time, died and was buried. The foundation is located on the top floor of the Strauhof Literary Centre (see separate entry) and houses more than 5,000 volumes of Joyce’s works in various editions and languages. The exhibits also include artworks, autographs, photographs, artefacts and one of the four original death masks. The foundation runs workshops and there is a gift and bookshop.
