Changing exhibitions at the Hostelry and Tourism Museum, located in the old town fairly close to Grossmünster Church, take you into the fascinating cultural history of travel in Switzerland. Focus is particularly on the development of the tourism industry and hotels in the period from 1830-1930. Travel by foot, horseback, sedan chair, steamboat or train, on Cook’s package tours, or in luxury, are all part of this story. The 15th century cellar of the museum is an historical monument.
