Rapperswil is known as the City of Roses, as a result of its three parks with their extensive rose displays. The history of the city from the time of armoured knights to the present is presented in the Heimatmuseum. The museum is housed in the restored 15th century Brenyhaus, formerly Haus Landenberg and originally the home of a noble family and then the city mayors. The exhibits include Roman artefacts, a weapon collection, paintings, and antiques, all displayed in attractive rooms furnished from various periods.
