Greppen is a small seaside resort, located about 3.5 km north of Weggis at the base of Mount Rigi. The attractive lake bathing area, situated next to the marina, offers swimming in the Vierwaldstättersee, a float, grassed areas with shade suitable for both sunbathing and picnics and a toilet, but no other facilities. Greppen has retained its character and has been placed on the ‘Inventory of protected communities’. The village was mentioned as early 1259, being referred to as Crepon; it belonged to the Habsburgs and was sold to Lucerne in 1406.
