Located in Zeiningen about 6.5 km west of Rheinfelden, the Fortress Museum Reuenthal and the Swiss Military Museum (see separate entry), were founded and are run by the ‘Swiss Military and Fortress Museum Association’. The former artillery fortress was completed in 1939, just before World War II started and the museum was opened in 1989. The fortress, with two 75 mm guns as its main armament, has two underground tunnels, the main being 210 metres long and a 290-metre escape tunnel. The museum also has an exhibition of weapons and equipment from 1900 to the present and stages special exhibitions
