The Ethnographic Museum of the University of Zürich aims to foster public interest in non-European cultures, by means of changing exhibitions of interesting objects and rare documents. The museum’s permanent exhibits include Indian gods, objects of folk culture in Tamil Nadu, the art of black Africa and Ethiopia, reflected in folk paintings, and a comparative textile collection. The museum incorporates a visual archive with films, videos and photographs and, in addition, hosts concerts and films and organises lectures and workshops for the general public. It is a place of research and its library is open to the public.
