The village of Einigin lies approximately 6 km south of Thun on the western shores of the Thunersee; visitors to the Spiez Castle (see separate entry) should take the time to call in on the pretty Einigen Church. It is said that this 10th century church was originally the mother church of the twelve on Lake Thun. It is a much visited pilgrimage site and, with its idyllic location, a popular wedding venue. There are many interesting features including the 1446 font with the Bubenberg coats of arms, the baroque pulpit and a 1948 organ.
