Some delightful sights to be seen in Zürich are the many fine sculptures which can be found on its streets and one of these is Edith (die Sinnende), which translates as ‘The Reflecting One’, on Genferstrasse near the delightful Arboretum. It is a work by the celebrated 20th century sculptor Arnold d’Altri (1904-1980) and was created between 1934 and 1936. This feminine torso is typical of d’Altri’s heavy and sensual style, with the rough porous nature of the skin being a distinguishing characteristic.
