The huge Dolder Ice Rink, part of the Dolder Sports complex, was built in 1930 and has been renovated and enlarged in recent years. At 6,000 square metres, it is the biggest artificial ice rink in Switzerland. Located about 4.5 km east of the city, it has three rinks and in 1954 hosted the ice hockey World Championships. A meeting place for ice skaters of all ages and with its other facilities, including the open-air swimming complex and mini-golf course (see separate entry), it is a quiet, relaxing and popular venue for Zürich’s sports fans.
