The Cure St Jacques was an ancient hospice and resting place for pilgrims on the way to Jerusalem, Rome or Saint-Jacques de Compostelle. From the Middle Ages this hospice accommodated patients during epidemics, and was also used as leper house when needed. During the construction of the parish church, in 1740, the building was much altered and has been used since that date as the presbytery. A recent renovation restored its original austere medieval character. Marks of restoration from various times prove that this is one of the oldest buildings in Valais.
