Located in a refurbished former textile factory, the Hallen für Neue Kunst provides an attractive home for major works of contemporary art from the 1960s onwards. It was founded in 1982/83 by Urs Raussmüller and has about 5,500 square metres of exhibition space. Amongst the leading artists whose work can be seen are, Joseph Beuys, Sol LeWitt, Bruce Naumann, Robert Ryman, Carl Andre, Jannis Kounellis and Mario Merz. The geometrical games in two and three dimensions of Robert Mangold, and Sol Le Witt’s dazzling cube installations, are particularly impressive.
