The lower part of the Clock Tower, Zug’s most famous landmark, was originally a city gate; the tower was added in 1478-1480 by Hans Felder, who also built the St Oswald’s Church (see separate entry). The tower was further extended in 1557 to its 52 metre height by the addition of a watch chamber, the turret-shaped bays and the striped steep striped hipped roof. The present astronomical clock indicates the months, the phases of the moon, the days of the week represented by gods, and the leap years. You can arrange to climb the tower, from where there is a fantastic view.
